Na última edição de sua história, lançada em dezembro de 2012, a revista Nintendo Power trouxe uma matéria com os 285 melhores jogos lançados para plataformas da Nintendo em todos os tempos.

A lista engloba desde o console em 8 bits NES até o portátil 3DS. O Super Mario mais bem colocado na lista é Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) que aparece em terceiro lugar, logo depois vem Super Mario World (SNES), em quinto lugar, e Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) em sétimo lugar. Diversos outros jogos importantes para a série e também para a indústria dos games, como Super Mario 64 (N64), Super Mario Kart (SNES), Super Mario RPG: Legend of The Seven Stars (SNES) e Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (SNES), também foram selecionados pela publicação.
