A Nintendo inicialmente ficou insatisfeita com as muitas referências a games antigos do Mario presentes na letra, pois desejava que ela apelasse a todos os tipos de jogadores, mesmo os que não conhecem tão bem o universo de seu mascote. A ordem na verdade era a de que a música "tinha de ser um número divertido e bombástico de jazz que você pode apreciar mesmo que não tenha conexão ou familiaridade com Mario, mas ela te recompensaria ainda mais, com pequenas alusões ao universo Mario, se você fosse um fã de Mario."
A intenção era a de que a melodia fosse também bem cativante, daquelas que ficam gravadas facilmente na cabeça, e que você sente vontade de cantar e dançar o dia todo. Após a conclusão e aprovação do primeiro verso da melodia, o time musical terminou seus dois versos restantes em cerca de três semanas, graças principalmente à maravilhosa demo (ver vídeo no final do post) criada por Rob T., líder do time de localização desta música.
